Food & Wine

Puglia is one of the main wine and food producing areas in Italy, so there is an abundance of fresh food and 'food miles' really do not exist here.  To illustrate this, we were in a town that was only a 10 minute drive from the coast and  asked if there was a good fish restaurant in the town.  We got told in no uncertain terms that if we wanted fish, you go to the coast.  Obvious really!

What you get in Puglia is excellent flavoursome food because the produce is fresh and eaten in season.  We could tell you about all the wonderful dishes but that is a voyage of discovery you should come and make yourself.

The wines are also exquisite particularly the reds.  There are some fine wine makers now in Puglia who are producing stunning wines.  Equally you can get very good quality everyday drinking wine from the local cantinas.

And the final word must got to the olive oil. Forget the extra virgin olive oil you have bought at your local supermarket, it bears little comparison.  The quality of the oil in this region is exceptional. We have our own oil so you will be able to sample the oil that was picked from outside your bedroom window......or stay with us in November and help with the harvest
