Wedmore Village
Wedmore is a prosperous and thriving village, with a wide range of specialist shops (from butchers to boutiques), restaurants and coffee shops. It is the principal village on the isle of Wedmore, a ridge of land rising out of the Somerset Levels. It is four miles from Cheddar and the Mendips; and eight miles from Wells and Glastonbury.
Wedmore is also steeped in history and has been a settlement since early times. In the Saxon era, Wedmore belonged to the Kings of Wessex and in 878 AD Alfred the Great made peace with the Danes here.
