Lands End to John O'Groats
If you are undertaking the Lands End to John O'Groats (LeJog as the cyclists call it) journey then Charleston is an excellent stop over being just off the A9.
Location
The house is located on the sea shore of the Beauly Firth at Charleston, North Kessock, just 10 minutes drive from Inverness over the Kessock Bridge.
Charleston is a small village along the road from North Kessock from where the ferry used to ply back and forth across the water to Inverness in the days before the bridge was built.
Local Attractions
North Kessock has a hotel with bar and dining facilities. There is a village shop, post office and also a teashop. There is a regular bus service to and from Inverness. You can often see dolphins and all along the shore line you will see Herons patrol the waters edge,
Swans swim up to the front garden and numerous coastal birds (for example, oyster catchers, redshank, curlew, shell ducks etc) can be spotted regularly. On occasion you may also see Osprey fishing out in the firth. In addition the elusive otter is sometimes spotted in the area and has been known to swim by the front garden.
